The main difference between monologue and dialogue is that monologue is a speech by one person who expresses his inner thoughts and feelings to other characters or the audience whereas dialogue is a conversation between two or more people. Its importance is related to: Shows Interactions Between Characters/Sets the Mood/ Develops the Plot/Display conflict.
