Brief Bio

Mohammed Amine Merzoug is an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences HDR) at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Batna 2 (Algeria). Prior to this, he held positions at the University of Lyon, University of Franche-Comté, FEMTO-ST Institute, University of Batna 2, and University of Batna 1. He received the HDR qualification (habilitation to direct research) in computer science from the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in 2023 and the Ph.D. degree in computer science in 2019 from the University of Bejaia (thesis prepared jointly at the University of Bejaia and the University of Franche-Comté). His research interests include distributed systems and artificial intelligence. He has co-authored more than 20 research papers published in leading peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. [List of publications]

  •  HDR in Computer Science (July 2023). The HDR (habilitation to direct research), which is a recognition of the highest level of education in the Algerian academic system that can be obtained after a Ph.D., allows its holder to lead research projects and supervise PostDocs and Ph.D. students.
  • Qualified for the position of Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) in France (February 2022): Section CNU 27, Qualification number 22227371639. This National French Qualification for the functions of Associate Professor, obtained from the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, involves a thorough evaluation of the candidate's academic achievements, teaching experience, research contributions, and other relevant criteria.
  • Qualified for the HDR position in Algeria (June 2021).
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science (April 2019). Thesis prepared jointly at the University of Bejaia and the University of Franche-Comté. Advisors: Ahmed Mostefaoui, Associate Professor at the University of Franche-Comté, and Azzedine Boukerche, Distinguished University Professor at the University of Ottawa. 
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, specialized in computer systems engineering. University of Setif, Algeria.
  • Engineer's degree in Computer Science, specialized in parallel and distributed systems. University of Batna, Algeria. The initial two years of this 5-year engineering program were completed at the University of Annaba (Algeria).
